ZUMA A BAKI! Complet by Autar manya.txt

Lagos

They were on their way back home after finishing their shopping. Sitting inside a Camry, the car’s tinted glasses were all up, the AC was on full blast, and the speakers were at maximum volume. As usual, Godwin Williams Albert was speeding, a habit of his.

Mr. Romantic’s song was blasting from the car speakers, and Godwin was singing along, nodding his head in rhythm, clearly enjoying the music. Annabelle, his sister, was seated beside him, dancing excitedly to the beat. That was how they remained until they reached home.

Godwin honked at the gate, and it was opened for them to drive into their massive mansion. The workers bowed and greeted them as they passed, but neither of them responded. Finally, Godwin spoke, almost as if he wouldn’t say a word: “Moses, get the stuff out of the car,” he said as he walked away.

Entering the parlor, they found their parents waiting for them. Rushing over, they both kissed their parents on the forehead and cheeks, one after the other. Momma smiled and said, “Time for dinner. Shall we?”

They responded, “Yes,” and headed to the dining area.

The cook served them fried rice with chicken Kiev and pineapple and coconut juice. They began eating and chatting noisily (with no table manners). During the meal, Godwin informed his parents that he had received job offers from several hospitals, including the one where he had done his housemanship, as well as Teaching Hospital Kano, ABU Zaria Teaching Hospital, Teaching Hospital Abuja, Barau Dikko Hospital Kaduna, and a private hospital in Lagos.

Momma set down her spoon and asked, “Which one have you chosen?”

He replied, “Barau Dikko Kaduna.”

In unison, they exclaimed, “What??”

He smiled and said, “Yup.”

Annabelle pouted and said, “Babyn Momma, why would you choose Kaduna? Why not accept the private hospital offer here in Lagos?”

Momma added, “Or Abuja! But Kaduna is so far away from here. We can’t let you go. We’re going to miss you a lot.”

Godwin chuckled and said, “I’ll miss you even more. But Kaduna really needs me. The hospital is being renovated, and they lack qualified doctors, especially surgeons. There have been so many complaints about the nurses and the hospital’s operations. It’s the perfect place for me to demonstrate my skills and advance my profession.”

His parents sighed in resignation and said, “Alright, since you’re so insistent about choosing Kaduna. We wish you all the best!”

They continued eating and chatting until they finished.

Godwin announced that he would head to his room to rest as he was starting to feel a headache and needed to research a medical condition. He gave everyone goodnight kisses before leaving for his room.

Once there, he took a quick shower, changed into his pajamas, and climbed into bed with his laptop. He spent about 30 minutes researching before pulling up his blanket and drifting off to sleep.
