<p>The Origin of the Story</p><p>Alhaji Ismail Mubi was the father of Khadijah. He was a Fulani man, originally from Mubi town in Yola State. Alhaji Ismail had been a wealthy man even before getting married. His father, the late Alhaji Musa Mubi, had passed away, leaving behind a great fortune and a large herd of cattle. His mother, Innayo, was still alive. Allah had blessed her with three children—Alhaji Ismail, the eldest; followed by Aisha; and lastly, the youngest, Rabi.</p><p>After his father's death, Alhaji Ismail got married with his mother’s approval. He married a woman named Mariya, who was also a Fulani from Mubi. Their marriage was full of love and affection, especially since he was the son of the wealthy late Alhaji Musa. Eventually, Mariya was taken to her husband's house as a bride.</p><p>Two months into the marriage, Mariya fell ill with a mild fever. Concerned, Alhaji Ismail rushed her to a small clinic in town, where tests confirmed that she was pregnant. His joy knew no bounds. They continued to care for the pregnancy until the ninth month. One day, while Alhaji Ismail was at the market—where he traded in fabrics at Mubi Market—he felt restless, eager to return home. Without hesitation, he called his shop assistant, Bala, and asked him to take care of the shop while he rushed home to check on Mariya.</p><p>Upon arriving, he found Mariya in distress. Alarmed, he ran to his mother’s house, which was nearby, and called her. Innayo quickly followed him back to his house. Just as she arrived, Mariya, who had been in labor alone for hours, gave birth to a healthy baby boy. The child was well cared for, and when the naming ceremony came, two rams were slaughtered in celebration. The baby was named after his grandfather, Musa, but was commonly called Abba.</p><p>Alhaji Ismail and Mariya lived happily together, their love growing stronger. However, Mariya was extremely possessive of her husband and never allowed him to interact with any other woman, even for business purposes. Eventually, his business led them to move to Kaduna. Innayo was heartbroken to be separated from her son, as he reminded her so much of her late husband, Alhaji Musa.</p><p>In Kaduna, they rented a flat in Unguwar Sarki, which had three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, toilets, and a security guard’s room. Alhaji Ismail secured a large shop at the central market in Kaduna, where he stocked high-quality goods. His business flourished, and his wealth continued to grow. Two years after moving to Kaduna, Mariya gave birth again, this time at 44 Military Hospital on Gwamna Road. The baby was named after Mariya’s father, Muhammad, but was commonly called Baffa. Their life continued smoothly.</p><p>There was a young Fulani milkmaid who regularly brought fresh milk and fura (a traditional millet drink) to their security guard, Mallam Shehu, to sell. Sometimes, he drank it, and other times, he gave it away as charity. Over time, the milkmaid became familiar with the household. However, Mariya harbored an unexplained hatred toward her. Whenever Alhaji Ismail was home, he would buy large quantities of milk and send it to a nearby Islamic school as charity. He also enjoyed chatting with the milkmaid, Amina, and the security guard, Mallam Shehu. This infuriated Mariya, who despised Amina deeply.</p><p>As time passed, Alhaji Ismail secretly developed feelings for Amina without Mariya’s knowledge. Amina eventually described her village to him, and one day, he traveled there to meet her parents. They were overjoyed at the prospect of their daughter marrying a wealthy man, especially since he was also Fulani. Their love grew stronger, and soon, wedding preparations began. Mariya was kept in the dark until two weeks before the wedding.</p><p>When Alhaji Ismail informed his family back in Mubi, they rejoiced. They had long been frustrated with Mariya’s controlling nature. However, when the time came to tell Mariya, his heart pounded with anxiety because he knew her temperament. As expected, the day he broke the news, chaos erupted. From Alhaji Ismail to the security guard and even the neighbors, everyone witnessed Mariya’s outburst. It was as if a war had broken out in the neighborhood.</p><p>Alhaji Ismail deeply regretted telling her. She was furious beyond words, refusing to speak to him for an entire week. Though she eventually calmed down, she still harbored resentment in her heart.</p><p>Meanwhile, wedding gifts were sent to Amina’s village, filling an entire room with luxury items. The news spread across the village, bringing excitement—Amina was about to marry a wealthy man. Finally, the wedding day arrived, and Alhaji Ismail Mubi and Amina Liman Sule were officially married.</p><p> </p><p> </p>
