6 ➖ 10

Husna sat on the edge of the bed, scrolling through her phone. She picked up a piece of chocolate, ate it, and tossed the wrapper out the window. Then she noticed an iPad on the nightstand, probably Bilal’s. Without thinking, she picked it up and started playing Subway Surfers, completely forgetting about the task he had given her. She was so engrossed in the game, munching on her chocolate, that she didn’t even notice when Bilal walked in.

He stood in front of her, watching as she played, but she was too focused to realize. Suddenly, he grabbed her ear, making her jump in surprise.

“Ouch! Please, I’m sorry!” she pleaded.

He sat on the drawer, still holding her ear. “What did I tell you last time? You’ve forgotten, haven’t you? What’s wrong with you?” He sighed in frustration. “You still have the same childish behavior.”

He reached out to take the iPad, but as he did, he caught a whiff of his own cologne on her. He frowned, grabbing a strand of her hair. “Why do you keep disrespecting me? I’m talking to you! Why do you keep doing this?”

“I was just playing because the battery is low,” she mumbled.

“Good. Where are the clothes I asked you to iron?”

She hesitated, her eyes widening. “I… I didn’t see the iron.”

He shot her a sharp glare. “Liar. You’re so careless. I don’t know when you’ll ever become responsible.”

He stood up, frustrated. “I’ll make you pay for this. Now, either you give me a massage, or—”

As he stretched out his legs, she stood up quickly, completely forgetting about the iPad on her lap. It fell to the ground with a loud crack. His face darkened as he realized the screen was broken. There were important documents inside.

Husna saw the change in his expression. “I… I’m sorry,” she whispered.

Bilal clenched his jaw. “I can’t take this nonsense anymore. I’m fed up with your endless ‘sorrys’!” He held out his hand. “Give me your phone. The one you’re using.”

She hesitated. Then, he remembered—this wasn’t even the iPad with the documents. He didn’t show it, though. Instead, he glared at her. “I said, give me your phone. You have one hour to fix this mess. That’s the only favor I’ll do for you.”

She gulped. “I’m sorry… Let me take it to be fixed.”

He rolled his eyes. “I asked for your phone.”

She started rubbing her eyes dramatically, but before she could finish her fake excuse, he smacked her lightly on the head. “I’m giving you two minutes to bring it.”

She pouted, dragging her feet to the other room to get her phone. But instead of returning right away, she lingered outside his door for nearly an hour.

Realizing she had no choice, she slowly pushed the door open, just as he was about to step out. The impact sent her stumbling forward, but he caught her just in time. She landed against his chest and immediately tried to wriggle out of his grip, but they both lost balance and fell onto the couch together.

For a moment, they just lay there. He held onto her hand, deep in thought. Then, as if snapping out of it, he pushed her away and stood up, scowling.

“Useless,” he muttered before walking out.

Husna fumed silently. As she turned, she noticed his Family Card on the table. A sly smile spread across her face as she picked it up and slipped it into a small zipper compartment of his travel bag. Then she walked out to meet her friends from the U.S.

After about ten minutes, Captain Bilal returned. He exchanged greetings with the guests but then shot Husna a sharp glare. She pretended not to notice, smiling and chatting away.

“Well done, Brother,” she teased.

Bilal forced a smile, but as he walked past her, he stomped on her foot and pulled her ear. “Well done, Husna,” he whispered mockingly before heading inside.
